Jet maker Boeing has found a new customer for its Boeing 737MAX in Fiji Airways.
Third customer for Boeing 737MAX in Oceania
Fiji Airways becomes the third Boeing 737MAX customer in Oceania, next to orders from Air Niugini and Virgin Australia Airlines. Air Niugini ordered 4 737MAX airframes in 2014, while Virgin Australia Airlines ordered 40 in 4 batches.
Fiji Airways has reached an agreement with Boeing and GECAS for the purchase of 5 Boeing 737MAX aircraft. The aircraft will be acquired via a sale-and-lease-back construction. Upon delivery the airframes will be promptly sold to lessor GECAS and leased back.
Fiji Airways currently operates a fleet of 4 Airbus A330 airframes and 5 Boeing 737NG aircraft. The Boeing 737 aircraft will be replaced 1-on-1 by the MAX.
After Polish Air, which ordered 4 Boeing 737MAX aircraft, Fiji Airways becomes the second customer for the 737MAX this week.
